The dark matter propulsion engine works by warping space around the spaceship, contracting space in front of it, and stretching space behind it. The ship travels on the wave of space, making a long journey seem shorter to the passengers.

The mission to Dog Doo 9 is the only stated prank delivery mission of the Planet Express Ship.
Saving Earth
From time to time, Earth President Richard M. Nixon has called upon the Planet Express Ship to help save the planet.
One such mission was to mine ice from Halley's Comet in order to combat the effects of global warming.
